Select Similar

Select all elements similar to a seed element by Category, Family, or Type within a chosen scope. Keep this window open and continue interacting with Revit-pick/change the seed element, pan/zoom, or undo-then run the selection again.

  1. Choose matching criteria. Pick how similarity is determined:
    • Same Category - all elements in the seed element's category.
    • Same Family - all elements of the same family as the seed element.
    • Same Type - all elements of the same family type as the seed element.
  2. Set selection scope. Limit the search to Current View, Entire Project, or Entire Project Including Legend.
  3. Select. Click Select to build a Revit selection of all matching elements in the chosen scope.
  4. Refine and repeat. Change criteria or scope and click Select again to update the selection.

Notes: The tool only changes the current selection; it does not modify elements. Results respect visibility/scope rules (e.g., Current View selects only elements visible in that view).
